“The Future of Scottish Theatre is in safe hands with Take3”
Adjudicator Scottish Community Drama Association (SCDA) 2007
Take3 Theatre School has, since 2006 been providing part-time performing arts training to young people aged between 6 and 18. The School which runs in Dunfermline, has students from all over Fife, many of whom have been with us for a number of years. In addition, we now provide tuition to 4-7 year olds in our Petite Performers' classes and invite adults and kids to join us for our Show Choir which we want to build as the biggest Show Choir in Fife!
The school runs over three 12 week terms per year when students are coached by professional tutors and performers to prepare them for a career in the performing arts, to provide a stepping stone to more advanced study of the arts or simply to provide a creative outlet, a great new interest and lots of fun.
Whilst other schools try to emulate us, Take3 has constantly evolved to ensure that it offers much more than just the formulaic musical theatre training. Take3 for example, is now an approved LAMDA examination centre and in 2011, of over 30 students presented for assessment, the huge majority attained Merit and Distinction passes for Acting. Now Take3 is set to become an all round Performing and Creative Arts Centre with a major expansion of courses available which will set the School in a league of its own in terms of the formal education and range of courses it can provide. Staff are not just professionals in their field, but many are School teachers and qualified College and University Lecturers which adds a special something to the quality and range of education we can provide. Few other performing arts schools can boast this.
The school offers a wide range of performing opportunities which has included prize winning competitive drama for performances in the Scottish Community Drama Association Festival; musical theatre, including Guys & Dolls Junior; Annie Junior and this, year Oliver!; Quality Drama which has included a highly acclaimed production of the Play, Blood Brothers. Guys & Dolls, Annie and Blood Brothers have all been produced to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe which is a terrific experience for our students which we intend to repeat. All genres of dance are covered, from ballet and tap to street, modern stage, jazz and hip hop.
We have lots of exciting news and innovations taking place throughout 2011 and 2012 which will be really exciting for students interested in performing and indeed, wider creative arts! Keep an eye on these pages for news!
