Q. Do I need previous experience to join Take3 Theatre Schools?
A. No. Just a passion for performing and the desire to learn new skills.
Q. Do I have to audition for entry to Take3?
A. From April 2008 entry to the schools in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy will be by audition. New Linlithgow students will not have to audition for the 2008 intake.
Q. Does Take3 provide the audition material?
A. We would like to leave it open for students to prepare their own monologue and song for audition, however, set pieces are available if you wish. You will be assessed in addition, on a short dance routine provided by our dance tutors on the day.
Q. Are there fees for Take3?
A. Yes, fees are payable on a term basis or monthly per term with a deposit. Fees information is available on application.
Q. Is there a uniform?
A. Yes, we have a range of uniform items available for purchase although as long as students adhere to the uniform colours of red and black it is not compulsory to wear Take3 clothing. You will however need various types of dance footwear (jazz shoes or trainers; tap shoes; character shoes etc. all of which can be purchased a competitive prices from Take3.
Q. Will I always get a part in shows?
A. You may not always get principal parts which are awarded on the basis of audition. You should remember however that chorus and supporting roles are just as essential, no matter how big or how small and often require just as much, if not more hard work than principal roles.
A. Although we occasionally start or end a session with an appropriate drama game, the emphasis in Take3 is on work. We want our students to enjoy their experience with us and our aim is to teach those who are serious about entering the performing arts as a profession, the skills required to reach their goals. Students need to prepare themselves for a lot of hard work!
Q. Do I have to take the LAMDA (or other) examinations?
A. No. Although part of your course work with Take3 will be from the LAMDA syllabus, you can decide if you want to take the examination or not.
Q. Is Take3 like joining an amateur theatre company?
A. Not at all! You are receiving professional tuition which you would not receive in amateur theatre and we require a disciplined approach to studies.
